Our first charity project at Ti Ratana Centre

This was our very own first charity event organized by Ti-Ratana Community Centre. We selected underprivileged families through the divisional secretariat and donated food items, school bags, books, and clothes for the families around our area

Donation of School Items – Magandala Oya Primary School, Monaragala 

In the morning of 19th December 2015, we, a team of a few volunteers from Ti Ratana Community Centre reached, Dhambagalla, Mangandala Oya Primary School which was located in an isolated area.
We were greeted by a very enthusiastic group of primary school children and their teachers, who were eagerly waiting for us.

Donation of School Items – Alugalla Primary School, Monaragala 

We donated stationery items, uniforms, and shoes for students of Alugalla Primary School which was having only about 50 students.

Donation of wheel Chairs and Other Items- Victoria Home Rajagiriya

Victoria Home for the incurables in Rajagiriya is not just a home for some but a safe heaven and the only home which cares for them. It’s where some take refuge in hiding their disability, where some learn to get on with life. One fine day we visited the home and donated wheelchairs and other accessories.

Flood Donation – Atigala

Sri Lanka was hit by a severe tropical storm that caused widespread flooding and landslides in 22 districts of the country destroying homes and submerging entire villages. We quickly organized and arranged dry food items and other items including sanitary items for them and visited the area. We faced difficulties in reaching them due to the flood. Finally, we managed to reach them and distributed the items.

Flood Donation – Tikiri Kumara primary School, Kolonnawa

We visited Tikiri Kumara Primary School, Kolonnawa, and donated stationery items, shoes, uniforms and other items to 300 students who are badly affected by the flood.

Donation for the Jinawathi Elders Home, Meegoda

We donated food items and bedding for the Jinawathi Elders Home, Meegoda.

Donation for the Cancer Hospital 

Ti – Ratana Community Centre not only support low-income children’s education but also we lift our hand to help those who are suffering from different sicknesses. Recently, we visited the children’s ward in Cancer Hospital, Maharagama. We gave toys and other essential items for the children in the ward. They were so happy to receive gift items from us.

Gift packs for pregnant ladies and Wheelchairs for the disabled people

We organized another charity event to help a few selected disabled families in the area. We donated wheelchairs to the ones who cannot afford to buy a wheelchair. Not only that we distributed gift packs with essential baby items to pregnant mothers in the area.

G.C.E O/L Free Seminar at Pannipitiya Dharmapala Vidyalaya

For the very first time, Ti- Ratana Community Centre organized a free educational seminar for O/L students. About 725 students were participated from different schools in the area to the seminar. It was a very successful event organized by us.

Donation of School items to Nahettikulama Primary School, Nikawaratiya

Ti Ratana Community Centre visited a very rural school in the Nikawaratiya area consisting about 10 students up to grade 5. We donated school bags, books, uniform materials and sports items to the school children as well as dry potions to their parents and teachers.

Flood Donation Matara

We donated school items, mattresses, gas cookers and other kitchen utensils and household items to the people who were affected by the flood in May-June 2017. This project was coordinated by Rev Kamburugamuwe Pagngnajeewa thero, Former Mayor of Matara, Mr Upul Nishantha and Mr Ranaweera, additional secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Highways.

Donation of School items to Batewela Maha Vidyalaya, Rathnapura

Ti Ratana Community Centre has organized another programme to donate school items to the children of Batewela Maha Vidyalaya, Rathnapura.

Blood Donation Campaign

We successfully organized a blood donation campaign with the Blood Bank of Homagama Hospital and more than a hundred blood donors.

Publication and Distribution of Dhamma Books

Dhamma books are published and free distributed by Ti Ratana Community Centre to enhance the knowledge about Dhamma of society.

E Technica ICT workshop at Vidyadana Maha Vidyalaya, Kottawa

The youth Club of Ti Ratana Community Centre organized an ICT workshop to improve the Information and Communication Technology awareness of the students in our area. This was held at Vidyadana Maha Vidyalaya Kottawa.

Donation of School Items to Urapeenewewa Maha Vidyalaya, Anuradhapura

We have donated stationery items, school bags, uniforms and shoes for the children of Urapeenuwewa Maha Vidyalaya situated at a rural area of Anuradhapura district.

Installation of New Library

We have about 350 underprivileged students from nursery to grade 13 who have difficulties collecting external and additional knowledge by reading books or by using modern technology due to the low income of their families. There’s no public library in the surrounding area, for them to get any information for their studies. So, we Ti-Ratana have decided to start a library with about 2000+ books of various categories and activity areas to support our children to improve their knowledge.

Health Camp

Ti Ratana Community Centre organized a health camp to improve awareness about non-transmitted diseases. We provided facilities to check the eyesight, blood pressure, and blood sugar level free for the participants.

Donation of School Items to Pulmude Vidyalaya, Pulmude

We visited “Khanija Weli Sinhala Vidyalaya”, Trincomalee in 2019 at donated some school items to about 68 students and 17 teachers.

“Theertha Yathra” Workshop

Ti Ratana Community Centre organized a workshop for the students who are currently studying at the premises to improve their knowledge about first aid, Information Technology and to improve the leadership qualities.

Dhamma Sermons

We frequently organized Dhamma discussions to improve the mental and physical status of our people to put their living standards high.

Motivational Programs

We have organized a motivational program in March 2018 focusing on “The role of emotional intelligence in sustainable success”, for students above 16 and parents. It was conducted by Mr Lalith De Silva.
